ANOTHER YEAR, ANOTHER COMICON!

Katrina Chu during one of the quieter moments on Sunday!

My how the years fly here in Seattle! It was once again the "Emerald City Comicon" over the weekend and I manned the DigiPen  booth, together with colleague Katrina Chu on Sunday afternoon. It seemed a little subdued this year compared to last year but I understand that on Friday and Saturday it was really busy. Nevertheless it was fun to see some of the craziest costumes ever - although I have to say that most comic book artists/exhibitors are all pretty much looking the same these days. (Where is that originality guys!) Among other DigiPen colleagues and students attending I did see fellow teacher, Suzanne Kaufman, there. She had an exhibitors table and had apparently sold a good number of her delightful children's book. So there were bright spots among the creative contingent. There was even a lot of interest for DigiPen this year - although sadly most was surprisingly (for the nature of the event) in the game design/programming areas, for which I could contribute little. That said its a fun event and I'm sure time will fly before the next one occurs and we can check out some more of those insane costumes. I might even wear one myself next time! (DigiPen be warned!)

The artwork and sculptures from the DigiPen BFA freshmen and sophomores seemed very popular!
